Financial Support: Scholarships and Financial Aid

All financial support is offered on a competitive basis with preference given to applicants who apply by the Priority deadline followed by those who apply by the Early Admissions deadline.

AUBG Distinguished scholarships cover 100% of your tuition for all four years of study and are available to students from Bulgaria, the Balkans, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (including Mongolia) in limited quantity per region. You are automatically considered for such a scholarship upon successful submission of your application.

Merit-based scholarships can cover up to 40% of your tuition. The decision to award such a scholarship is based on your academic success including your GPA, English proficiency test scores, and other indicators of academic achievement. You are automatically considered for such a scholarship upon successful submission of your application.

Need-based financial aid can potentially cover up to 20% of your tuition in addition to any merit-based scholarship you may have been awarded. The amount of need-based financial aid is determined based on the analysis of your Application for Financial Aid (AFA) and supporting documents submitted in the application pack, as well as the availability of funds. You are considered for such aid upon successful submission of your application and the Application for Financial Aid including required supporting documents.

NOTE: You may start working on your Application for Financial Aid after January 1, 2024. Applying for financial aid does not guarantee that you will receive need-based financial aid.

AUBG and Donor Scholarships award students different amounts of support, including a few that cover 100% of tuition. Some are awarded based on both academic merit and financial need. Many of the Donor Scholarships have a financial need component. To be considered for those, you must complete the Application for Financial Aid. Need-based scholarships can supplement or supersede other financial support ensuring you get the best financial offer available.
