How to Guide: English Proficiency

Your ultimate guide on how to apply for AUBG: English Proficiency tests. Learn everything you need to know about it.

English Proficiency

The Admissions Committee accepts a range of English Proficiency (EP) certificates, from IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge to Duolingo.

The EP tests are required to ensure that you can learn from our professors without struggling to understand what is being explained. The university strives to provide high-quality education through in-depth in-class discussions of the covered material.

This is why we require the official EP results through the websites of the respective assessment center. The only exceptions would be made only in case of the submission of IELTS and Cambridge scores.

Find more information on the type of accepted EP certificates, the minimum required score, and how to submit the results may be found here.

Academic Course Waiver

Although taking SAT is not mandatory, you can still choose to submit electronically your SAT results through the College Board website. If the your score within the mathematics and reading sections are above 590 and 25 points, respectively, you may be able to skip the mandatory MAT100 and ENG100 courses during the first year of studies.

English Proficiency Waiver

The request for an EP waiver will be reviewed on an individual basis and granted by the Admissions Director in case:

  • You are a citizen living in an English-speaking country (Australia, Canada, the US, the UK, etc.)
  • You have been studying in an all-English school for four consequent years, including the year of expected graduation.

English Language Institute

If you have certain difficulties with the language, AUBG offers classes at the English Language Institute (ELI) where the students may improve their English before entering the university itself. More information about the ELI courses may be found here.

Deadline

The deadline for the English Proficiency test results is the same as the deadline for the entire application. The Admissions Committee strongly recommends that all the applicants aim for the early submission deadline – March 1.
