The Biggest International Mathematics Competition 2023 Hosted by AUBG

This is the 14th edition hosted by AUBG with the largest number of students welcomed to the AUBG campus. On July 31, 2023 more than 450 participants arrived from all over the globe representing more than 100 universities from 49 countries, including the United States, France, Germany, China, Brazil, Indonesia, Greece, Mexico and many others. The 30th edition of the competition goes under the slogan “Teaching and inspiring maturity, loyalty, and dedication to Maths!”.

Students from first to fourth year of their undergraduate studies, up to 23 years of age, participate in the largest so far 30th edition of the competition. The competition is held in two rounds, and students compete individually in the fields of algebra, mathematical analysis, geometry and combinatorics.

“There are three aspects that I consider important,” said IMC President and Professor at the Department of Mathematics, University College London, John e. Jayne.

  • The first is that you would feel like you really focused your attention on doing well on the examination phase. This is useful for your curriculum vitae, for getting funded in places to do doctorate degrees, and other benefits for your future.
  • Second, this is your opportunity to meet people from all the other continents and parts of the world, people who come from very different backgrounds, very different cultures, very different political organizational systems. Make sure to speak to people from different cultures, from different countries, make an effort to meet as many people as you can.
  • The third aspect is our sponsors who are offering employment possibilities and things for you to do after university.

Some of the more than 100 prizes are provided by the general sponsor of the Olympics Huawei, as well as the main sponsors Jane Street, Maple Soft, Springer, Wolfram Research and Zulip.
