At the end of the Fall 2025 semester at AUBG, we paused and made a list of the initiatives our community engaged with. This semester, more than ever before, we saw how students were able to intertwine variety of causes with traditional student events.
In the past months, AUBG became a place of compassion, solidarity and support for people in need through charity events, awareness campaigns and initiatives.
December Initiatives or When Gifts Bring Hope
The December holiday spirit stepped up over the challenging finals mood and reminded us that caring for one another was what brings meaning. During the whole month, the campus was buzzing with information booths for causes to support and gifts donations opportunities.
Gift Happiness
USYC at AUBG organized the initiative Gift Happiness where students donated their old clothes, books, games, school supplies and toys to children from foster institutions. The campaign exceeded the expectations of the organizers and brought plenty of joy to the kids during the holidays.
Be a Santa Claus
By tradition, the Better Community Club allowed anyone to become a Santa Claus for a kid. This year, in cooperation with the local Agency for Social Assistance, the club brought gives to more than 300 children, aged 0-17 y.o., from Blagoevgrad, Kresna, and Simitli.
Christmas Bazaar
One of the moments when we really feel the spirit of the holidays approaching is the Christmas bazaar, organized by BCC in collaboration with the AUBG student clubs. On Dec. 3, more than 20 student clubs set up their tables with snacks, homemade pastries, and souvenirs and raised over 3000 BGN for people in need.
Christmas Ball
And transferring the spirit to yet another student tradition, this year’s Christmas ball organized by the Student Government supported the cause which gives a chance for professional qualification to youth deprived of parental care and youth at risk The Hidden Talents in Bulgaria by foundation Operation Teddy Bear and raised over 4 000 BGN during the Masquerade Ball.
Annual Food Donation Campaign
The year wrapped up with the annual food donation campaign, organized by the Municipal Council for Drug Prevention and the Orthodox Center in Blagoevgrad.
With the number of charity initiatives and united in care, the AUBG ones again showed that the university life extends far beyond the academic life to bring positive impact to the society.
