Prof. Nedyalko Delchev’s play “Freckles” Awarded at the 12th National Competition for Bulgarian Drama

Professor Nedyalko Delchev was awarded the Grand Prize of the 12th National Competition for Bulgarian Drama “Ivan Radoev” for the play “Freckles”. At an official ceremony in the Pleven Theater, led by the director of the theater Dimitar Kabakov, the winning author was personally congratulated by the Mayor of the Pleven Municipality Georg Spartanski. The award is a bronze statuette, made by Pleven sculptor Ubavka Tonchev, and a monetary award of BGN 2,000 to the Municipality of Pleven. Ivan Dimitrov was awarded the Young Author Award for his play “How I Befriended a Mosquito”.

The chairman of the jury that awarded the honors is Gergana Pirozova, and the members are Stefan Ivanov, Hovhannes Torosyan and Denis Simeonov. They accepted a total of 57 plays, but unanimously decided that there would be no nomination in the “Plays for Children’s Puppet Theater” category. Of the remaining 39 texts for dramatic theater, one of which is for puppet theater for adults, the committee nominated, in addition to the two awarded plays, two more – Sia Sieva’s “50 Seconds” and Yana Dobreva’s “The Chapel”.

Organizers of the 12th edition of the National Competition for Bulgarian Drama in the name of Ivan Radoev are the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Pleven and the theater in the city. The competition is public and texts for drama and puppet theater compete in it, which have not been staged before its holding and have not participated in other dramaturgy competitions.
