The English Language Institute (ELI) organized a tree-planting initiative in honor of Earth Day. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness. Motivated by the slogan “Plant a tree for Earth Day. Give back to nature. Invest in your future.”, ELI students, parents, faculty, and staff gathered on a Saturday morning to make a positive impact on the environment.
Inspired by the initiative, Niki Yanev, a TV editor at the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) and English for Journalists alumnus, made a short movie about the impact it had on the participants.
The initiative was made possible thanks to the enthusiasm of the ELI instructor David Davidoff and the trees provided by the Southwestern State Forestry Enterprise.
