In 2019, the German company Ottobock SE GmbH, a leader in the field production of prothesis and orthesis, chose Blagoevgrad to expand its operation activities. The company started its production in 2020 and for that period of time had already a big impact on the region. Currently, Ottobock has about 300 employees from Blagoevgrad and the region. In 2021 the company won the Award of Building of the year.

At the beginning of 2023, Ottobock Manufacturing Bulgaria started a partnership with the English Language Institute at AUBG in terms of providing English language courses to its employees. Together Ottobock and ELI are working on the mutual goal to help Ottobock employees upgrade their foreign language skills.

“We are happy to offer courses to a company that supports diversity and works to improve people’s lives.,” said Director of ELI, Nikolina Radeva. “We have always been eager to participate in projects that help our community flourish.”

Apart from the established English language courses at ELI, the team organized a special course in German language to help Ottobock’s employees communicate more easily and fluently with the company’s headquarters.

“I am glad to have the opportunity together with AUBG to lay the foundations of the German language courses at ELI and to help the first group of students,” said Aleksandrina Pandurska, the newest member of the ELI team. “Even though the German language is considered hard to learn, I believe that with persistence and strong motivation results will be quickly noticed. I wish everyone good luck!”

Sylvia Donkova, HR Director, shared that the company was excited to have the chance to offer this opportunity to their employees.

“We are eager to continue impacting positively the local community and building stronger partnership with AUBG.”
