On December 1, 2024, AUBG alumnus and renowned investigative journalist Christo Grozev (’95) participated in a virtual conversation with local journalists, part of the the English for Journalists project. The initiative, funded by a grant from the U.S. Embassy, seeks to empower journalists with advanced English skills and professional insights.
Christo Grozev, who is celebrated for his groundbreaking work on international investigative journalism, provided an in-depth analysis of current geopolitical developments in Russia, Ukraine, the United States, and the Near East. He also emphasized the critical importance of the new European Media Freedom Act, discussing its potential to reshape journalism and bolster press freedom across Europe.
A key focus of the discussion was the development of local media outlets on social platforms. Grozev highlighted how grassroots initiatives can strengthen independent reporting and foster informed communities.
The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, allowing participating journalists to pose questions and gain firsthand insights from Grozev’s extensive experience.
This engaging discussion not only offered a global perspective on pressing issues but also provided practical strategies for navigating the evolving challenges of modern journalism. For the journalists in attendance, it was an invaluable opportunity to learn from one of the most influential voices in the field—and a proud graduate of AUBG.
