After celebrating the largest AUBG class of first-year students ever, the AUBG community celebrated yet another significant milestone. Sept. 12th, 2024 will leave it’s mark in the AUBG history with the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of Skaptopara III residence halls. The project aims to enhance the dormitory’s capacity and amenities, further solidifying AUBG’s reputation as a leading institution of higher education.
“We’re doing this for our students because an education is more then what you get in the classroom,” said President Ensign.
“It’s what you learn from living together with people who are different from you; having new experiences going out in this incredible community and learning how to apply your knowledge. So it’s a very special moment.”
Blagoevgrad Mayor Metodi Baykushev echoed President Ensign’s sentiments, emphasizing the project’s positive impact on the local community. “The expansion of the campus is an investment in the future of our community. In recent years, AUBG has been accepting more and more students from our city and giving them the opportunity to develop their incredible talents. Today we mark another step in this direction. Increasing the university’s capacity is an important goal that AUBG has set for itself, and the Municipality supports.”
“The university gives a person the opportunity to be free, to be independent, to be entrepreneurial and to know how to manage on his own and help others around him.”
The Skaptopara III expansion is another step to AUBG’s unwavering dedication to providing its students with the best possible living conditions. The new wings will feature modern amenities, including air-conditioned rooms, common spaces, meeting rooms, and kitchens. Additionally, the project will include an underground garage, surface parking spaces, and charging stations for electric vehicles.
The team that stands behind the project promised to have the construction ready on time for the Fall ’26 semester. Among them is Kalistratov Group, a renowned construction company with over 15 years of experience; Global Management that is serving as the project manager, overseeing a team of industry professionals to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards; along with the expertise of architect Dimcho Tilev who is guiding the design and implementation of this expansion.
As construction progresses, AUBG remains committed to ensuring that its students’ academic experience is not disrupted. Block A of the dormitory will remain fully functional throughout the construction period, providing students with comfortable and convenient accommodations.
The Skaptopara III expansion marks a significant step forward in AUBG’s journey to become a global leader in higher education. By investing in its infrastructure and expanding its capacity, the university is positioning itself to welcome even more talented students from around the world and continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of its graduates and the communities they serve.
