AUBG Celebrates Commitment During Staff Recognition Event

Under the early summer sun, on the lawn in front of the cafe, AUBG hosted a special afternoon to honor and thank its dedicated staff members, organized by the AUBG Staff Council.

“This event is a great opportunity to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to each other – for our efforts, loyalty, and for everything each of us brings to this community,” said Teodora Georgieva (EMBA ’24), Chair of the AUBG Staff Council. “Recognition brings us closer and inspires us to continue giving our very best,” she added.

President Dr. Margee Ensign opened the event with a message of heartfelt appreciation: “We’re deeply grateful for the work that you do. It’s the staff who keep this institution running behind the scenes, and they deserve the recognition.” She acknowledged each department individually, ensuring that no team was left behind.

Representing the faculty, Professor Dr. Robert Phillips extended his gratitude as well, thanking the entire staff for their essential role in supporting faculty’s mission to educate ethical and democratic leaders.

Mariam Arakelyan, the newly elected President of the Student Government, also addressed the gathering, introducing herself and expressing sincere thanks to the staff community for their continued support to the student body.

The event also recognized long-standing service milestones, with certificates awarded to employees who have completed five, ten, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years at the university within the 2025 calendar year. Each awardee was invited to the stage to receive their certificate and personal congratulations from President Ensign.

The inaugural cohort of Presidential Fellows – the newest members of AUBG’s staff and recent graduates of the university – were also recognized as they completed their fellowships.

Held between two of the university’s most significant academic events – Honors Convocation and Commencement – the Staff Recognition event served as a moment to pause and celebrate the dedication, professionalism, and collaborative spirit of AUBG’s employees.

With light refreshments, warm weather, and friendly conversation, the afternoon created an atmosphere of connection and gratitude, reinforcing the sense of community that defines AUBG.

We are especially pleased to renew this event – with the hope that it will become a lasting tradition, growing and evolving alongside all of us.

The Staff Council is the representative body of the staff and plays an important role in being the voice of the community.

“We are committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and positive work environment,” said Teodora Georgieva.
