‘AUBG and Friends’ Golf Community and the Access to Higher Education

The Pirin Golf Country Club could not enjoy a better September Saturday that the one today. The 9 a.m. sunny green field welcomed one of the biggest groups of AUBG Golf Tournament participants who played together in a friendly competition with a charitable cause – providing students with Liberal Arts education through scholarships.

The seventh edition of the tournament gathered AUBG alumni, students, families, and friends for a day of networking and, we couldn’t go without mentioning – good burgers. Among the new faces this year, the participants had the chance to meet AUBG President Ensign and share with her memories and insights on the traditional event.

“This is precious because we are not playing just for fun, you are not playing just because we are competitive but we are playing to support the AUBG students,” said the Mascot, as organizers called him, of the tournament, Dr. Slaveyko Dzhambazov.

Traditionally, the tournament was opened with a welcome speech by the new president of AUBG. “I am proud to represent you and to be here,” Ensign said. “We deeply appreciate your help with the scholarships. Our goal together is to make sure this great education is accessible to more and more people in this country and the region.”
