The American University in Bulgaria will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit on March 22-25, 2026, by a team representing the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, NEASC). The American University in Bulgaria is in the unique position of being accredited both in the United States (by the New England Commission of Higher Education, formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc.) and in Bulgaria (by the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation). AUBG is chartered as an institution of higher education by an act of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.
