AUBG and Nova Broadcasting Group awarded this year’s recipient of NOVA EMBA Scholarship, Vanya Trendafilova. She received a scholarship covering 50% of the tuition fee for AUBG’s Executive MBA program.
Vanya plans to create an online platform that shortens the distance between farmers and consumers. The main goal of her project is to support small producers, while enabling consumers to choose and buy environmentally friendly foods at preferential prices. The platform will provide information about location, the available fruits and vegetables that can be purchased, and will also inform consumers about upcoming seasonal campaigns at various Bulgarian farms.
“I applied for the NOVA EMBA Scholarship because I think it’s a great opportunity to continue my career development and build on what I’ve learned so far. The project came about spontaneously and, in my opinion, is the missing link that will unite Bulgarian farms with people of all ages who believe in a healthy lifestyle,” shared the awardee Vanya Trendafilova.
Vanya Trendafilova received her recognition from the Provost and Interim President Dr. J.D. Mininger, and the Chief Producer “News and Current Affairs” of Nova Broadcasting Group Marta Evtimova at a special event.
“Education and media have the power to build informed, responsible, and engaged societies,” said Dr. J. Daniel Minninger, AUBG President and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
“Our partnership with NOVA is proof that when these two fields work together, they can inspire leadership, engagement, and sustainable change. This is what our joint scholarship is all about,” he added.
“At NOVA, we greatly value our partnership with the American University in Bulgaria,” said Marta Evtimova, Chief Producer, News and Current Affairs, Nova Broadcasting Group.
“We have been together for three consecutive years in this inspiring initiative, united by our desire to support good, socially responsible ideas. They have the power to change society, our way of thinking, and to connect people.”
For the third consecutive year, NOVA and the American University in Bulgaria are providing the NOVA EMBA Scholarship for study in the university’s Executive MBA program. It is determined after a competition in which future or current entrepreneurs defend projects that solve significant social problems in Bulgaria. The first scholarship for the university’s Executive MBA program was won by Boyan Nedelyakov in 2023 for his free screening project that detects serious diseases in time. The second scholarship went to Jane Kerkova in 2024 for her app to combat food waste.
