As we continue on our journey across cities and stories, our second stop takes us to Vienna, Austria – a beautiful historic city with imperial charm and bustling modern-day life. Through “The Alumni Diaries”, we follow AUBG graduates across the globe, and you can explore all episodes here.
In Episode 2, we meet Velitchka Hristova (‘98), a Senior Banker and Director at Gutmann Bank and Founder of Sineva Family Office, who has been building her career in Vienna for more than 20 years. She combines the organization and time-management skills suited for a private banker and developed at AUBG with a deep love for culture, beauty, and the finer details of everyday life. Velitchka is especially fond of history, perhaps due to her majors in History & Civilizations and Business Administration at AUBG, as well as her Master’s in History from Central European University.
Walking through Vienna’s Christmas markets, Velitchka invites us into her world. She shares her favorite spots and rituals, such as enjoying rich Austrian chocolates, visiting the Opera House, and browsing through a crystalware boutique.
Amid the sightseeing, Velitchka reflects on her time at AUBG and how it helped her believe in herself. She also shares an interesting story about an unexpected chance encounter with Jan Bauer, the taxi driver, that led her to landing her dream job.
