Building Bridges: AUBG Hosts Ambassadors Day 2024

This year, we continue the legacy of Ambassadors Day on October 8, 2024, welcoming a mix of ambassadors and other representatives from six embassies, including Albania, Georgia, the U.S., Kosovo, Mongolia, and the Kingdom of Morocco. They spent the day on campus, engaging in discussions and cultural exchanges while meeting with students from their respective countries. 

President Margee Ensign warmly welcomed the ambassadors and other representatives, providing them with insights into the university’s mission of developing democratic, ethical leaders.

In her address, President Ensign highlighted the university’s growth, stating, “We’ve just welcomed the largest class in the history of AUBG, and we’re in an exciting phase of expansion. Our students come from 22 countries, with even more on exchange, and they bring invaluable perspectives to our community.”  

She emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering open dialogue and mutual respect, adding: 

“This is a place where students from different parts of the world are valued as individuals and for their different perspectives.”

The ambassadors and other representatives representatives expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to connect with AUBG students and witness the university’s impact firsthand.

H.E. Mrs. Inid Milo, the Ambassador of Albania to Bulgaria, remarked, “The experience and skills that previous students gained at AUBG have been invaluable. Many have returned to higher levels in administration, demonstrating the added value this experience brings for democratic values and critical thinking.” 

Mrs. Ariunaa Adiya, the Сounsellor of the Embassy of Mongolia to Bulgaria, also shared appreciation for the educational opportunities AUBG provides for students:  

“Your efforts in educating the future generation of Mongolia are commendable, and we look forward to seeing even more Mongolian students at AUBG in the future.”

Following the welcoming reception, the ambassadors and other representatives toured the campus and engaged with students from their respective countries to provide encouragement and support. 

In the afternoon, they participated in a World Café, gathering in groups with students and faculty to discuss selected global topics, such as the role of diplomacy in fostering business and investment, and leveraging technology for advocacy and governance. The program concluded with the Advocacy Academy Reward Ceremony. 

The day celebrated international collaboration, reflecting AUBG’s ongoing commitment to expanding its global footprint.
