Why Film and Creative Media?
The Major in Film and Creative Media provides students with comprehensive skills in the production of short film and creative media, as well as a solid theoretical foundation to understand the social, cultural, political and historical dimensions of media and film. The Film and Creative Media major enables students to understand and explore visual storytelling through a range of film and creative media genres and modes: from fiction to animation to experimental to documentary.
Students will engage with the art, craft and theory of film and creative media across a range of interpretations and uses – including personal, promotional and commercial works.
Production classes will teach students the skills to make their own film and media creations, from inception to post-production. Complementing the creative elements the Major will provide students with a rigorous theoretical and analytical training for those who wish to go into graduate studies in the fields of creative writing, filmmaking, documentary or film and media studies.
