About the program
This four-week summer program immerses AUBG students in a multicultural civic engagement communication program in Vienna, Austria. Focused on the art of mobile storytelling and digital marketing, the program emphasizes creative media research, development and collaboration.
Students will work in predefined production teams alongside forced migrants and refugees, selected by EGA: Women in the Center. Together, these teams will delve into “the texture of lived experience” through observational, participatory, and collaborative field methods. Each production team will design and execute a reel-based social media communication campaign, aimed at promoting a local small enterprise or a non-governmental organization recommended by local participants. Students will learn how to identify and target audiences and effectively spread the message through modern Digital channels and train Digital Marketing through an online StratX simulation.
Students can only enroll in both courses simultaneously. Assignment work relates to both. Course elections held first, registration follows.
Courses
Digital Marketing, BUS 4061
This course will provide students with an understanding of how digital marketing strategy is designed and how the marketing mix is changing to reflect the needs of the digital world. With the rapid shift of advertising dollars away from traditional media to online platforms, it is becoming increasingly important for business/marketing graduates to be well-versed in digital marketing and analytics fundamentals. Indeed, some small businesses may achieve success through using digital marketing exclusively. Social media, emotions, and consumer personas will be investigated; however, digital marketing is not only about social media; it covers all web interactions (SEO, search engine marketing, URL strategy, mobile, SMS messaging, QR codes, etc.). Also, students will become familiar with the concept of planning a marketing campaign for different digital media and how to assess digital channel performance. This course will provide a solid foundation in the key concepts for these exciting fields.
