Branimir Stanimirov holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Luxembourg, where in 2023 he defended a doctoral dissertation on the judicial reforms in Bulgaria and on the quality of the country’s democracy more broadly. He also holds two master’s degrees in international relations and European studies from the International Center for European Education in Nice, France, and the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.
Dr. Stanimirov has also worked as a Research Associate at the Center for Digital and Contemporary History of the University of Luxembourg. He also completed two post-doctoral programs in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and worked as a part-time lecturer at the same institution.
Dr. Stanimirov is a recipient of the Pierre Werner Prize, awarded by the Luxembourgish foundation of the same name, for important academic work in the field of social and political sciences.
Dr. Stanimirov joined the AUBG’s Department of Politics and European Studies as an Assistant-Professor in the summer of 2025.
