DisDisinformation International Workshop

2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
November 04th
House of Europe Conference Room, Sofia, Bulgaria

Join us at 14:00 on November 4 for the DisDisinformation International Workshop. At the House of Europe Conference Room (124 Rakovski Str., Sofia), we will share best practices and lessons learnt in countering disinformation and information influence activities. Our goal is to convene representatives from the media, civil society sector, academia, the public and private sectors for an open conversation with practitioners and disinformation experts from Europe and the US. We will talk about how the Baltics became a leader in ‘dissing’ disinformation, and how the Balkans have come to understand the nuances and complications of malign influence. We will also talk about the need to ‘dis’ disinformation as a mere tactic and start to talk about the much more strategic information influence operations. Disinformation and media expert Thomas Kent will moderate the conversation. Center for the Study of Democracy analyst Goran Georgiev will then lead the Q&A session. The discussion will be in English with Bulgarian simultaneous translation. An informal networking opportunity will follow. The workshop is an initiative of the American University in Bulgaria’s newly founded Center for Information, Democracy, and Citizenship, Fulbright Bulgaria, and the America for Bulgaria Foundation.
