Concert: Society of Orpheus and Bacchus
The Society of Orpheus and Bacchus is an a cappella singing group at Yale University. Founded in 1938, the Society of Orpheus and Bacchus is the second longest-running student a cappella group in the United States. The group's repertoire spans genres from barbershop to jazz to pop and songs by more contemporary artists such as Queen, MIKA, Radiohead, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and Michael Bublé, and features over 200 arrangements selected by current and former members of the group throughout its long history. In addition to singing, the group prides itself on its comedy, with a typical concert featuring sketches written by members of the group. Each year, the Society of Orpheus and Bacchus performs in the United States and around the world. They have performed at the White House, the Korean Demilitarized Zone, La Fortaleza in Puerto Rico, American Airlines Arena for the NBA Miami Heat, as well as country clubs, yacht clubs, churches, schools and resorts.
