Bulgarian Democracy Youth Citizens’ Assembly
On July 15, 2025, the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) will host the first-ever Youth Citizens’ Assembly in Bulgaria, a groundbreaking initiative that places young people at the center of democratic dialogue and decision-making.
Fifty participants aged 18–25 from across the country will come together in Sofia for a full day of inclusive, structured deliberation. Guided by expert input and facilitated discussions, the participants will work in diverse groups to explore a key societal issue and co-create actionable policy recommendations. These proposals will be shared with relevant institutions to inform and inspire real change.
The Assembly is designed to foster deliberative democracy and civic engagement, giving a platform to Bulgaria’s next generation of leaders. By encouraging collaboration across backgrounds and perspectives, the event empowers youth to play an active role in shaping the country’s future.
