Dr. Margee Ensign, AUBG President, and H.E. Mr. Georgi Panayotov, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United States, invite you to an AUBG Evening in Washington, D.C. The panel discussion, titled "Democracy in 2024: Global Perspectives and AUBG's Role" focuses on current challenges to democracy globally and how AUBG is responding both academically and through civic engagement. In this engaging and thought-provoking panel, we will hear from Dr. Margee Ensign, president of the American University in Bulgaria, an accomplished administrator and world-renowned scholar. Her insights into global democratic trends, drawn from her extensive experience in academia and administration on three continents, promise to offer unique and invaluable perspectives. Joining her will be Dr. Jacob, the newly appointed Executive Director of the Center for Information, Democracy, and Citizenship at AUBG. Dr. Jacob brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his previous role at the Organization of Southern Cooperation, where he served as the Under-Secretary-General for Research, Evaluation, and Foresight. This panel discussion serves as a platform to showcase how AUBG, through its educational programs and civic initiatives, is contributing to the promotion and protection of democratic principles both locally and internationally.
