Writing Academic Research Papers

ENG 1002

This course prepares students to conduct academic research and write academic research papers. Stress will be placed on research as a process that is constantly under revision. This course focuses on two forms of research paper, the argumentative and the analytical, or exploratory, research paper. Students will be expected to critically assess sophisticated source material and integrate outside academic sources into their research papers. Special attention will be placed upon the establishment of credibility through the use of reliable sources and the logical development of ideas and arguments. Each student will prepare and deliver a short presentation based on their final research project.
