A sustainable society is one that meets its needs without jeopardizing future generations to meet their own needs. The challenge of how we achieve a sustainable society is a vital theme, addressed by many disciplines. This course explores the principles and practices of sustainability and their application to various domains including business, policy-making, and personal choices. It examines the interactions among the environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainability and equips students with critical thinking skills to evaluate the claims of both sides of environmental controversies and solutions. Throughout this course, students will consider motivations for sustainable choices and discuss the trade-offs involved in achieving a sustainable future.
