Introduction to Archaeology | HTY 1008
This course is designed to provide a broad introduction to archaeology which focuses on the history of archaeology, the general discussion of various archaeological methods used in the field work and their development, theories, and concepts that would enable the students to understand how the material left behind by past civilizations can provide an understanding of their life and culture; how a merely static artefact may be turned into dynamic human behavior in the past. For this purpose, some significant archaeological sites all over the world will also be presented and discussed. The course will also familiarize students with the specific archaeological vocabulary.
