This course offers a general view of some vital ideas and techniques in the field beginning with a discussion of systems of linear equations (the natural source of the subject) and proceeding to the important techniques of matrices, matrix operations, and determinants. An illustration of the general concepts in plane and space geometry helps students to cultivate their intuition and interpretative skills, and an elementary introduction to general vector spaces, linear transformations, and eigenvalue problems initiates students into this powerful technique.
