COS 4040

This course introduces the fundamental concepts of data communications and computer networks. It examines such topics as physical media for data communications, data communication devices, protocol stacks, such as TCP/IP and OSI, the operation of local-area networks such as ethernet, packet routing, and application protocols such as e-mail and WWW. The theoretical concepts will be reinforced via practical programming assignments.
