Subject Week: “Entrepreneurship”

The term “entrepreneurship” is derived from the Old French verb entreprendre, “to undertake.” An entrepreneur is a an individual or a small group who venture to create a new business. It is the entrepreneur who bears the greatest risk, but also the greatest reward, depending on whether the business succeeds or fails.

A “startup” refers to a company in the first stages of operations. Startups are founded by one or more entrepreneurs who want to develop a product or service for which they believe there is demand and expect to grow the business. The vision for the business is usually different from a small business owner’s, who are more focused on a sole location, smaller-scale venture.

Below we’ve compiled some books for aspiring entrepreneurs, from tried and tested entrepreneurs.
