Reading of Prof. Adams’ forthcoming new work: “The Lovely, Lovely Gatebox”

The Literature and Theatre Department invites you to a reading of Prof. Adams’ forthcoming new work: “The Lovely, Lovely Gatebox”, on Wednesday, April 2nd, 19:30 at Panitza Library.

“The Lovely, Lovely Gatebox” was originally published in Apricity, the official literary and arts magazine of the University of Texas at Austin. From there it was selected for inclusion in their 2025 volume IX print anthology. “Gatebox” is a love story: the familial relationship between a mother and her son, and the son’s relationship with his AI girlfriend.

Cathy Adams is a Balkan Scholar in the Department of Literature and Theatre, where she teaches composition and creative writing. Her latest novel, A Body’s Just as Dead, was published by SFK Press. Her writing has twice been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She is a short story writer with publications in The Saturday Evening Post, Utne, AE: The Canadian Science Fiction Review, Barely South, Five on the Fifth, Southern Pacific Review, and 72 other journals from around the world. She earned her M.F.A. at Rainier Writing Workshop, Pacific Lutheran University, Washington.

For Fall semester, she’ll be teaching the 3404 True Crime Writing class.

All are welcome!
