AUBG’s History and Civilizations Program Reaccredited with a Higher Score

Our distinguished History and Civilizations program has been successfully reaccredited, with an even higher score than before. The program received a remarkable 9.28 out of 10, an improvement over the previous score of 9.00.

Professor Simeon Simeonov, Associate Professor in History & Civilizations and Deaprtment Chair, commented: “The Department of History and Civilizations is very pleased with the outcome of the accreditation procedure. We are happy that our efforts to make the program even more academically rigorous, more diverse in its geographic, chronological, and thematic scope, as well as more stimulating to students, have been acknowledged by the accreditation team. We are particularly excited because the accreditation team recognized the centrality of the Department of History and Civilizations in the unique liberal arts education framework at AUBG.”

Provost Dr. J.D. Mininger praised the achievement, stating: “This is a well-deserved recognition of the dedication and hard work of our faculty, students, staff, and all those who contributed to this process. This success reflects the strength, quality, and ongoing momentum of our academic programs.”

He also extended special thanks to Tanya Papazova, Yanka Rangelova-Miron, and Raya Nikolova from the outstanding AUBG Accreditation Team for their dedication and excellent work. “I am also very grateful to everyone who contributed to preparing the necessary materials and facilitating the accreditation visit. Your collective efforts have been instrumental in achieving this succes,” Dr. Mininger added.

Professor Simeonov also emphasized the valuable feedback from the accreditation team, noting, “Their insights into potential areas of growth are highly instructive, and we view them as helpful pathways to securing lasting excellence in teaching, research, and service.”
