We take community seriously at AUBG: our unique position as a global university in one of Europe’s most ancient civilizations gives us a point of view you won’t find elsewhere.

Back in 1991, it all started with one international student from Norway – Kasra Mottahedeh. Nowadays, AUBG is home to some of the brightest students from over 40 countries.

Community values

Our shared values guide everyday life on campus.

  • We are all expected to treat one another with respect and tolerance. Through residential living, student clubs and organizations, and classroom discussions, community members learn to appreciate different perspectives and uphold the dignity of others.

  • AUBG encourages open dialogue, critical thinking, and the free exchange of ideas. Students are empowered to express their views, engage in debate, and be themselves, knowing they will not be judged or criticized by others. Members of the community respect one another’s right to have different opinions.

  • With students from more than 40 nationalities, AUBG encourages everyone to learn about and respect one another’s backgrounds. Our differences are what make the community unique, and they are celebrated on campus. Through cultural exchange activities, orientation programs, student clubs, and everyday interactions, AUBG fosters intercultural understanding and appreciation.

  • AUBG is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment where every individual feels valued and protected. The university has policies on non-discrimination, harassment prevention, and accessibility support that ensure a respectful campus environment. There is also 24/7 security on campus, and dedicated offices provide continuous support and resources for students.

How we connect across cultures?

  • Culture and Connection Week is a campus-wide initiative that occurs every year in February. During this week, a series of fun events, workshops, challenges, and presentations are organized to strengthen intercultural understanding within the AUBG community.

  • Part of Culture and Connection Week, the Dance & Taste Fest is one of the most anticipated and vibrant events on campus. Students prepare and share traditional dishes from their home countries and perform cultural dances and music, creating a festive atmosphere everyone is involved in and cherishes.

  • Culture and Connection Training is part of the new student orientation program and introduces incoming students to the AUBG's core community values. During the half-day training, students learn how to navigate a rich international environment, communicate across cultures, and contribute to a welcoming and supportive campus culture.

  • The Phi Beta Delta Honor Society part of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter is established to promote intercultural exchange. Phi Beta Delta organizes the annual Culture & Connection Week at AUBG, uniting everyone through music, traditional food, and a range of events.

  • Throughout the academic year, students, clubs and organizations, and AUBG offices organize a range of events that celebrate the multi-culturality of the AUBG community. Community gatherings, film screenings, international celebrations, and guest speakers create spaces where students can share traditions and experiences.
