Building Manager

The American University in Bulgaria, a leading education institution in the country, is looking to hire a Building Manager. The Residence Hall Building Manager reports directly to the Facilities manager. This position ensures normal daily operation of the Residence Halls as a clean and well-maintained environment to meet the needs of the students, staff, and guests of the University.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Organizes and schedules the work of the cleaning staff to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the building.
  • Documents and approves the monthly working hours of those employees that he/she is responsible for.
  • Maintains and is responsible for residence hall inventory to include: desks, chairs, beds, blankets and linens, upholstered furniture, wardrobes, etc.
  • Maintains and is liable for storage inventories to include: toilet paper, light bulbs, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Controls the movement of materials and supplies into and out of storage’s through use of standard AUBG business protocols.
  • Provides the Business Office with all appropriate documentation to facilitate the auditing and inventorying of storage.
  • Forwards to the Facilities Office orders, requests and recommendations for supplying hot water and heat to meet the needs of the residence halls.
  • Reports repair and damage problems to the Facilities office.
  • Assists in locating and supplying goods and services necessary for the functioning and operation of the residence hall to include: linens and towels, drying racks vacuums, cable TV supply, etc.
  • Maintains control of keys for offices, apartments, residence hall rooms, reading rooms, and recreation rooms.
  • Reports daily maintenance issue to the Facilities department.  Records common damages and reports them to Accounting Office and Student billing coordinator for billing to students and other guests.
  • Supervises preparations for Conference or other University guests using residence halls.
  • Understands the budget limits and manages within the requirements.
  • Works daily with and coordinates operations with residence hall directors.
  • Works with Security department and guards as needed.
  • Materially responsible for VCR, television, and other items according to Bulgarian law.
  • Controls work activities according to workplace safety and health regulations.
  • Checks monthly the Fire Alarm detectors and fire extinguishers with representatives from contracted outside company.
  • Coordinates the work of the outside companies in regard to disinfection, garbage, cleaning etc.
  • Participates in the educational forms for maintenance and enhancement of the professional qualification or for improvement of the professional skills organized or financed by the employer.
  • Abides by workplace safety and health regulations.
  • Performs other assigned duties connected with the job.

Requirements and Desired Qualifications

  • University or College education in the area of tourism or High school with considerable experience in this area.

 

Experience necessary

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and supervisory and organizational skills.
