Scholarships for Current Students

  • ALF EASTERGARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time and continuing AUBG students with demonstrated high academic achievements (CGPA above 3.00). Preference will be given to AUBG students showing outstanding interest and ability in the field of accounting. Applicants must have completed two or more courses in accounting.

    Two 2,500 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ tuition fees for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,250 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

  • AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR BULGARIA DISTINGUISHED SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time Bulgarian AUBG students who have the highest CGPA in his/her major in Computer Science, Informatics or Mathematics.

    Two 2,300 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ tuition fees for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,150 EUR per semester, per student), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy. All scholarships will be awarded based on merit and academic excellence.

  • ANELIA KASTERLIEVA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students for their sophomore, junior or senior year of study during Fall 2026 semester with a CGPA of 3.00 or above, who have performed significant service and have contributed for the overall wellbeing of the community and AUBG. Such as but not limited to:

    - Being part of societies or dramatizations, which goals are shared or contributing to the goals and principles of the European Union;
    - Participate in local community outreach programs like food banks, environmental clean-ups, and tutoring services.
    - Organizing / Participating / Leading campaigns on sustainability, or social justice issues, helping raise awareness and educate peers and the broader public.
    - Students, particularly those in research-focused programs, can contribute to societal advancement by conducting studies or experiments that address pressing issues like climate change, public health, social networks' hazard awareness for children.
    - Contribute to local sports and exercise awareness for younger and not so younger people. Campaign for healthy way of living.
    - Engaging in discussions, debates, or forums on public policy topics that can help shape the direction of governance, legislation activity and societal development.
    - Cultural - organize or lead social art or entertainment events, which can be performing arts. Students in media or journalism fields can create content that informs and educates the public on key social issues.
    - Mentor younger students or children locally or peer-tutor those in need, helping improve educational outcomes and foster a culture of learning.
    - Organizing workshops or talks to spread knowledge on various topics, from career development to health and wellness.
    - Participate in international exchange programs or international student organizations, helping to bring people from different countries together while working on new ideas and solutions to global issues , legislation, international relations, education and health.

    ONE 4,000 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (2,000 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy. Please see eligibility details in the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

  • THE ANN S. FERREN AND JONATHAN D. FIFE SCHOLARSHIP FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE is open to all full-time AUBG students, for their junior or senior year, with a CGPA of 3.3 or above, who have performed significant community service for their home countries, for Bulgarian and/or Blagoevgrad communities, for AUBG community, etc. while enrolled at AUBG.

    Two 2,000 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,000 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

  • The Christo Grozev Scholarship Program in Media Studies and Journalism is open to all full-time AUBG students who meet the following criteria:

    - Demonstrated interest and commitment to pursuing a career in media studies, journalism, or a related field. The applicants must have declared JMC major.
    - CGPA of 3.50 or above.
    - Financial need, with priority given to applicants from underrepresented, marginalized, or disadvantaged backgrounds.
    - A commitment to the values of democracy, truth, and journalistic integrity.

    One 1,800 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (900 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

    Please submit:

    - A completed application form.
    - A personal statement outlining your interest in media studies/journalism, career aspirations, and commitment to democratic values.
    - CV.
    -One recommendation letter.

  • THE COSMINA TANASOIU MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students with a CGPA of 3.00 or above. Preference will be given to students who Major or Minor in European Studies (declared with the Registrar’s office OR have enrolled in at least 2 EU core courses - not prerequisites). All other majors can apply, who can demonstrate sustained interest in the study or pursuit of European Union politics on campus (by taking EUR courses, combined with dedicated club activities, organizing campus events, etc. that popularize and advance the goals of EUR program). Award will be made on the basis of the highest GPA within major /minor (for EUR), and highest overall GPA for other majors, but not below 3.0, as well as ‘demonstrated interest’ as defined above.

    One 2,500 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s tuition fees for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,250 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

  • GISELA-BARBARA CHARLOTTE BUSH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students, with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or above. Preference will be given to the students with the greatest financial need.

    One 2,000 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s tuition fees for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,000 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy. Please see eligibility details in the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

    When describing your financial status, please provide your family’s net income for the last twelve months. All awarded recipients will be required to present a proof of their written statements within a week after the announcement of the winners. The University preserves the right to void its decision to award a scholarship to any applicant who is not able to prove the information submitted in his or her scholarship application.

    Please submit an application form and a CV including a description of your academic achievements, career plans, and financial status .

  • THE MICHAEL & LOUISE EASTON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students for their sophomore, junior or senior year of study during Fall 2026 semester with a CGPA of 3.25 or above and an expressed desire to return to their country of origin upon completion of their post-graduate education. Preference will be given to the students with the greatest financial need.

    Three 3,000 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,500 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

    When describing your financial status, please provide your family’s net income for the last twelve months. All awarded recipients will be required to present a proof of their written statements within a week after the announcement of the winners. The University preserves the right to void its decision to award a scholarship to any applicant who is not able to prove the information submitted in his or her scholarship application.

  • THE EUGENIA SHUDTZ BRECHKA AND ROBERTA LOUISE NILSEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students with a CGPA of 3.7 or above. Preference will be given to the students with the greatest financial need.

    One 3,000 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1.500 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

    When describing your financial status, please provide your family’s annual net income for the past completed calendar year. All awarded recipients of university scholarships will be required to present a proof of their written statements within a week after the announcement of the winners. The University preserves the right to void its decision to award a scholarship to any applicant who is not able to prove the information submitted in his or her scholarship application.

  • THE STEPHANE GROUEFF ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time current AUBG students in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication with a CGPA of 3.7 or above and any related awards for academic achievement, participation in social activities (University clubs, publications, community programs), and demonstration of self-support financially (summer jobs, part-time employment, etc.).

    ONE 3,000 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,500 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

  • LYUBEN PETRUNOV MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students with a CGPA of 3.30 or above. Applicants must demonstrate:

    - Intellectual curiosity – both in their studies as well as out of classroom subjects. Intellectual curiosity is demonstrated by referencing in their essays a broad number of sources, in different areas like science, art, literature, geography, history, etc.
    - Desire for world travel, to know different cultures and way of life and enrich one’s point of view. Demonstrated by: participation in international conferences, in touch with international students and student bodies, exchange programs.
    - At least one hobby they are passionate about. Demonstrated in the application process through details on the hobby.
    - Demonstrate desire to help others, share one’s knowledge in group/work environment. Shown in the application process through examples.

    One 2,400 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,200 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

    Applicants must submit an application form, a CV, and an essay on the following topic:

    “If you could invent one thing - what would it be? Why would we need it? Describe in as much detail as possible.”

    The essay must be typed, submitted in Times New Roman, 12-pt font, and should NOT exceed 500 words.

  • THE NYC ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time and continuing AUBG students with demonstrated high academic achievements (CGPA above 3.40).

    FOUR 2,100 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,050 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

    Applicants must submit an essay no longer than 500 words on the following topic:

    “How have you contributed to date, and how will you continue to contribute to AUBG and its larger community 5 years upon graduation? How will this scholarship help you achieve these goals”

  • THE PAY IT FORWARD ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students with a CGPA of 3.20 or above. Priority consideration will be given to candidates that express intend to go back and work in their home countries after graduation and/or students from CEE or former USSR republics.

    ONE 5,000 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient ‘s University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (2,500 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

    Applicants must submit an application form, a CV, and an essay on the following topic:

    “How do you plan do make your country better after your graduation?”

    The essay must be typed, submitted in Times New Roman, 12-pt font, and should NOT exceed 500 words.

    Scholarship Recipient Requirement: The recipient hereby pledges and irrevocably promises that he/she shall give to AUBG a sum at least equal to the total of their received scholarship amount, by payment of annual contributions to the Pay It Forward Scholarship Fund upon their personal discretion.

    Payment of the annual contributions shall start after the recipient has graduated from AUBG and commenced work, but in any case, not later than 5 years from graduation from AUBG. The total amount of the scholarship must be fully paid within 10 years.

  • THE RADOSLAV GEORGIEV ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time Bulgarian AUBG students with a CGPA of 3.00 or above. Preference will be given to students majoring COS, INF or MAT.

    ONE 3,000 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,500 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy. Please see eligibility details in the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

  • THE ROBERT L. WOODBURY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students in their third or fourth year of study (at the time of receiving the scholarship) with a CGPA of 3.50 or above. Preference will be given to students with the greatest financial need.

    Three 3,000 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,5000 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy. When describing your financial status, please provide your family’s net income for the last twelve months. All awarded recipients of university scholarships will be required to present a proof of their written statements within a week after the announcement of the winners. The University preserves the right to void its decision to award a scholarship to any applicant who is not able to prove the information submitted in his or her scholarship application.

  • THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time current AUBG students from all majors with a CGPA of 3.0 or above. Preference will be given to sophomores and juniors.

    TWO 3,000 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,500 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

    Applicants must submit an application form, CV, and an essay on the following topic: “Meaning of Success” The essay should not exceed 500 words.

  • SERAFIM VASEV SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time Bulgarian AUBG students from Dupnitsa Municipality, with a CGPA of 3.00 or above. Preference will be given to students showing outstanding interest and ability in the field of Information Technologies (major, minor, any projects, etc.).

    Two 8,000 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ University-related expenses (tuition fee, housing, student activity fee and meal plan) for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (4,000 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

  • THE AUBG CLASS OF 1995 ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students for their sophomore, junior or senior year of study during Fall 2026 semester with a CGPA of 3.00 or above.

    TWO 2,000 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,000 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy. Please see eligibility details in the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

    Applicants must submit an application form, a CV, and an essay on the following topic:

    “How will I contribute to AUBG, Bulgaria and the region during my studies and after graduation?”

    The essay must be typed, submitted in Times New Roman, 12-pt font, and should NOT exceed 500 words.

  • THE STRATSIMIR KULINSKI ’95 SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time AUBG students (except any student who is a graduating senior or is in his or her eighth semester of study at the time of application), in good academic standing (i. e. not in academic probation), who demonstrate a track record of meaningful contributions towards the advancement and quality of university student community life (e.g. extracurricular activities, student clubs, interest groups, etc.).

    ONE 3,000 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s tuition fees for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (1,500 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

  • THE VEHIP & NATASHA GURI SCHOLARSHIP is open to full-time students of all majors with CGPA of 3.5 or above from Albania, Kosovo, and Macedonia (Albanian descent). Recipients must have completed at least two semesters at AUBG and maintain a full-time status during the complete duration of the scholarship term.

    Five 1,000 EUR scholarships will be awarded and applied to the recipients’ tuition fees for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters (500 EUR per semester), in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.

  • WOMEN IN TECH SCHOLARSHIP is open to all full-time Bulgarian female AUBG students, who will be in their sophomore, junior or senior year of study during Fall 2026 semester with a CGPA of 3.00 or above. Preference will be given to applicants who major in COS, Information Systems or Mathematics. Any other Bulgarian student can apply, as long as she can demonstrate accomplishments in extracurricular activities in the field of technology, mathematics or programing.

    ONE 8,000 EUR scholarship will be awarded and applied to the recipient’s University-related expenses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters, in accordance with the AUBG Named Scholarships Policy.
