America for Bulgaria Student Center

The America for Bulgaria (ABF) Student Center is the jewel in the crown of our contemporary campus. The spacious, generously sunlit, multi-functional center was built in 2013 with the financial help of the America for Bulgaria Foundation. It hosts our state-of-the-art theater, sports and dining halls, and offices such as Marketing, Communications and Events. Other popular facilities inside the Center include the gym, the bookstore, a trendy coffee shop, and lots of chill-out areas with WI-Fi access.

Theater Hall

Dr. Carl Djerassi Theater Hall

Our theater hall is located inside the ABF Student Center. This elegant amphitheater hall can seat up to 342 guests, and the acoustics are unparalleled. It is fully equipped to operate as both an acting and a movie theater. It can also host lectures, concerts, and other exciting events on campus. This is where the premiere of AUBG's annual musical takes place, and you can rent the venue for your special event too.

Sports Hall

This outstanding venue is fully equipped for a variety of sports events, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and handball. Its uniqueness is further enhanced by the one-of-a-kind running track which circles around the gym on the second floor. The hall hosts events such as career expos, receptions, sports events and competitions, and is occasionally rented by professional athletes such as the Bulgarian Male National Volleyball team – one of the best in the world!

Aspire

Located on the ground floor of the ABF Student Center right next to AUBG’s Bookstore and Cafe, the Aspire room is an excellent rental venue for guest lectures, events, workshops, and training sessions. It has a capacity of up to 20-25 people, boasting excellent presentation and sound equipment, as well as a variety of layout options.

Postbank Conference Room

Located on the top floor of the ABF Student Center, this bright and cozy room is suitable for workshops, seminars, and training programs for up to 20 people. Cocktail receptions, buffets, and served meals for smaller groups are also hosted here. Conveniently located on the same floor as room 6306, both venues are suitable for seminars and workshops, and can be hired together.

Located on the top floor of ABF Student Center, this hall is ideal for workshops, seminars, trainings, and conferences of up to 50-55 people. It is equipped with robust presentation and sound equipment, and can be set up as per your individual requirements.

Balkanski Academic Center

The Balkanski Academic Center (BAC) is part of the Skaptopara Campus, where the AUBG Residence Halls and Panitza Library are located. The BAC offers classrooms and computer labs for hire, suitable for training of small groups, while the BAC Auditorium seats 150 people and is an ideal venue for a range of presentations.

The auditorium is suitable for conferences, symposia, presentations, and lectures. This theater-style conference room has 150 seats, a large screen, and robust presentation and sound equipment. Classrooms and computer labs in the same building can be used for parallel or break-out sessions. We can provide you with a range of venue set-ups based on your needs.

Services

The Skaptopara Residence Halls, AUBG’s on-campus student accommodation, are conveniently located next to the Balkanski Academic Center and the Panitza Library, and just a 10-minute walk across the city center from the Main Building. The halls can accommodate up to 700 people in double rooms with private bathrooms, with a limited number of single rooms also available..
The Skaptopara Residence Halls offer our conference guests a comfortable and secure stay, featuring:

The Skaptopara Residence Halls are available to accommodate conference participants only during the summer months, from May 20 to August 20, when students are no break.
Local hotels We are happy to assist with arrangements and reservations at local hotels, all located within a 10–15 minute walk from the American University in Bulgaria. Prices range from moderate to higher-end, depending on the hotel’s standard.
AV equipment available to conference organizers includes:

- Flipchart stands with notepads
- Sound equipment
We offer catering services for a variety of events, including coffee breaks, cocktails, and banquets, as well as served or self-service meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our conference guests have always been pleased with the delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian specialties prepared by the AUBG culinary team.
We are pleased to offer coordination of your transportation needs for your event, including:

- Organizing Sofia airport-Blagoevgrad-Sofia airport transfers

Arrange a day or afternoon trip for you and your guests during your event at AUBG. Our team provides coordination services with tourism companies and organizing transportation. We handle all the logistical and organizational details, while professional providers manage the tours. Several of Bulgaria’s finest landmarks are located within an hour's drive from the conference venue, such as:
- The 10-century-old Rila Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site
- The picturesque town of Melnik, famous for its traditional architecture, sandstone pyramids, and red wine
- The ski resort and museum town of Bansko
We also offer logistical coordination for pre- and post-conference trips to further destinations in Bulgaria, such as the ancient town of Plovdiv, the formet Bulgarian capital Veliko Tarnovo, and the scenic Black Sea coast. Trips are arranged depending on availability and your specific requirements, with transportation and tour details handled through professional tourism providers. Blagoevgrad itself has much to offer visitors, including an opera house, cinemas, a historical museum, art galleries, and numerous cozy cafés and restaurants. For recreation, guests can enjoy tennis courts, a baseball field, gyms, swimming pools, and a jogging path along the Bistritsa River.
