Dimana Doneva, Publications and Website Coordinator: “There is amazing stuff happening at AUBG”
Dimana Doneva is one of these AUBG alumni who decided to return to their alma mater to contribute to its betterment.
Doneva grew up in Blagoevgrad, acquired a high school diploma from the Foreign Languages School “Dr. Lyudmil Stoyanov,” and double-majored in journalism and mass communication and business administration at AUBG. She graduated in May 2014. While at AUBG, she also devoted considerable time and efforts to AUBG Daily and Radio Aura. Because JMC majors need to intern with one or more media organization for at least 320 hours in order to be able to earn a degree in journalism, Doneva interned with the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) and the English-language news website www.novinite.com.
As soon as she finished her studies at AUBG, Doneva started two internships simultaneously: one with BTV, one of the most popular private channels in Bulgaria, and a second one with AGITPROP, which, in Doneva’s words “is probably the most successful documentary filmmaking studio in Bulgaria.” In addition to these internships, Doneva did two part-time jobs in Sofia: one as a copywriter in a company run by another AUBG alumna and a second one in the marketing department of a software firm.
Having missed both “the AUBG dynamics” and “the intelligent and interesting people” around the Skaptopara Campus for more than half a year, Doneva is now back in Blagoevgrad as one of the new talents in the OCM, where she will be responsible for the content published on the university’s website.
“There is amazing stuff happening at AUBG so the issue is more one of being able to cover all the news rather than one of having to sugar-coat things,” Doneva says. “As I was on the other side until recently, it is important for me to keep a website that is useful not only to prospective students and professors but also to current students and community. High-quality publications, good ethics and [an] increase in the number of people who know about AUBG and are interested in it: this is my long-term goal.”
