Class of 2021 Get First Taste of Life on CampusSeptember 14, 2017
Despite the sweltering heat in the last days of summer, more than 220 new students stepped through the doors of AUBG for the Fall 2017 semester. The new chapter of their lives began on Aug. 30 with a week-long orientation meant to introduce the newcomers to the wonders of AUBG and Blagoevgrad.
“I used to see AUBG on photos on Facebook and Instagram, and I’m so speechless of being here. I’m very excited,” said Elena Kikvadze, a first-year student from Georgia.
The class of 2021 is as diverse as ever with students coming in from 25 countries including Bulgaria, Colombia, the United States, Russia, Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, etc. Among them are the winner of the fourth X Factor Albania, top medalists from national and international science olympiads, and aspiring young artists.
“I’m really excited about the new people,” said Maria Vasileva who arrived on campus from Pleven, Bulgaria. “Because studying is studying but the people that surround you actually make everything different.”
Along with the 191 new full-time students, 39 more are visiting AUBG through exchange programs like Erasmus+ and ISEP. The English Language Institute hosts an additional 24 pupils.
