AUBG Takes Home Two Prizes at the Annual b2b Media Awards

AUBG won two prizes at the prestigious b2b Media annual awards: first place for Innovative Project and second place for Community Branding. The Innovative Project award recognizes AUBG’s Rising Impactors initiative as the first scholarship opportunity to support Bulgaria’s socially conscious future leaders. The university got the silver in the Community Branding category thanks to the efforts of the entire AUBG community — students, alumni, faculty, staff and supporters — to promote and advance the mission of the university.

AUBG launched the Rising Impactors Scholarship earlier this year with the aim to support future AUBGers who have brought positive change to their communities. A joint initiative of the university and the Bulgarian business, the scholarship puts focus on social entrepreneurship, academic excellence and ethical leadership.

“Success – both corporate and personal – is increasingly being measured through one’s positive impact on society,” said AUBG Director of Development Irena Macheva (EMBA’18) who accepted the awards at the official ceremony in Sofia July 10. “This is why the Rising Impactors initiative is looking for talented and proactive young people and aims to encourage them to further contribute to society. The scholarship allows them to receive a high-quality education that would help them reach their potential and continue to bring positive change.”

The Rising Impactors scholarship would not have been possible without the support of the many donors who believed in the importance of the AUBG cause. “We are incredibly grateful to the ever-increasing community of AUBG supporters,” Macheva said. “The Community Branding award is a testament to the society’s understanding of who we are, what we do, why we do it and how it benefits the community and the business environment in both Bulgaria and abroad.”

Meanwhile, Progress won the gold in the "Investment in Sustainable Development" category for providing AUBG students with scholarships. Headquartered in the U.S., Progress employes a number of AUBG alumni and in 2014 acquired alumni-led company Telerik for $263 million. Every year, the Progress Distinguished Scholarships support entrepreneurial AUBG students with a strong commitment to extracurricular activities.

A record number of over 70 projects competed in this year’s b2b Media awards that recognize the most successful and innovative companies in Bulgaria. The award ceremony took place for a fifth consecutive year.
