Information For EMBA Graduates

Ceremony Location

The AUBG Commencement Ceremony will take place on AUBG Skaptopara campus between the Balkanski Academic Center and the America for Bulgaria Student Center.
In the event of light rain, the ceremony remains outdoors, and participants are advised to be prepared for such weather.

Should there be severe weather, the ceremony will take place in the America for Bulgaria Student Center Sports Hall.

If there is any uncertainty as to the ceremony location because of unstable weather announcements regarding the place of the Ceremony will be posted around campus and in AUBG Main Building, shared via email and the AUBG app on Commencement morning.

When you report to the robing area make sure you have your receipt with you if you have paid for any item of your regalia set.

Once you have been issued your academic regalia, you may go to your guests and have family pictures taken. Note that tassels are worn on the right front side of the cap, and are shifted to left after degrees are conferred. 

Afterwards you should be lined up for your group class picture, which will be take at the stairs between Balkanski Academic Center and America for Bulgaria Student Center facing the river. In case of rain, the senior group picture will be taken in the America for Bulgaria Student Center Sports Hall. 

When the group picture is completed you should be back to your robing area and lined up in alphabetical order for the academic procession. It is of crucial importance that you stay in line the entire time. Please be patient with this process, since it will take some time. Please, also do not forget to turn off your mobile phone during the line up, the procession, and the ceremony.

No later than one hour after the ceremony, please, return your borrowed regalia items to your robing area.

EMBA Graduates Regalia: Gowns, Hood, Caps & Tassels

You are allowed to keep your cap and tassel as a memento of the University, and borrow or purchase an AUBG master's gown and hood from the university stock for the Commencement ceremony. 

Those of you who want to purchase their own academic regalia item can choose a payment option of your preference at Please, specify your ID number in the subject field of the transfer and fill in and e-mail a regalia order form to the EMBA Office.


Those who wish to stay in a hotel in Blagoevgrad have several options.

If you and your guests plan to arrive in Blagoevgrad on Sunday, please do so at least one hour prior to the Ceremony. A few minutes before the beginning of the event, the reserved seating area will be closed off for the academic processional to begin.

Invitations and Reserved Seating for EMBA Graduates’ Family Members

You may pick up the invitations to your guests from the EMBA Office in early April. Please note that the commencement invitational mailing to your guests will consist of an invitation and an explanation insert, which is not a pass for the ceremony.

Reserved Seating at the ceremony for your guests will be ensured by the commencement guest tickets which you may pick up from the EMBA Office also in early April. Note that the same tickets will provide entrance to the President's Reception on Saturday. 

Guest tickets are free of charge and limited. They guarantee seating in the reserved seating area for the outside ceremony as well as for the ceremony indoors in case of severe weather in the America for Bulgaria Student Center and Dr. Carl Djerassi Theater Hall where the ceremony will be broadcasted live.

Please NOTE that students bear the full responsibility for not having their guests accommodated if they misplace their tickets. Additional tickets will NOT be issued. 

On Commencement Day all guests without tickets will be directed to take a seat in the area designated for the general public.
