1. What fees do I have to pay for the Spring 2021 semester?

2. When is the deadline by which I should inform AUBG about my preferred mode of study in Spring 2021?

Students must inform AUBG whether they plan to attend Spring 2021 online or on-campus (hybrid form of instruction) no later than 5:00 pm on November 27, 2020. Students’ requests will be reviewed and approved by the Dean of Faculty, following which the student bills for Spring 2021 will be updated and posted on AUBG student portal by December 10.

3. When is the deadline for paying my tuition and fees for the Spring 21 semester?

Returning students must pay their tuition and required fees for the Spring 2021 semester in full no later than January 10, 2021. Newly admitted students are required to pay their tuition and required fees by December 31, 2020. The required fees are the housing fee, the student activity fee, the meal plan deposit, and outstanding balances.

Students who have not paid their tuition and fees before the above deadlines will be charged a late payment fee of $100.

4. How should I pay my tuition and fees for the Spring 21 semester?

Please refer to https://www.aubg.edu/payments for information on how to pay your tuition and fees. Due to health and safety considerations related to the Covid-19 pandemic, AUBG will not accept cash payments.

5. Will AUBG provide tuition discounts to students who study online in Spring 2021?

AUBG will not provide tuition discounts to students who study online in Spring 2021.

6. Am I required to pay a housing confirmation deposit for the Spring 2021 semester and by what deadline?

Students who have not lived in the residence halls in Fall 2020 and plan to live in the residence halls in Spring 2021 are required to pay a housing confirmation deposit to reserve their place in the residence halls. The payment deadline is November 30. Students who have not paid a housing confirmation deposit will not be allowed to participate in the room selection process for Spring 2021.

Students who have paid a housing confirmation deposit for Fall 2020 but studied online or lived off-campus in Fall 2020 are not required to pay a housing confirmation deposit. The deposit from Fall 2020 will be rolled over to Spring 2021. The deposits cannot be rolled over beyond Spring 2021, unless AUBG announces an online-only Spring 21 semester, in which case the deposit can be carried over to Fall 2021.

In case AUBG announces an online-only Spring 2021 semester, the housing deposit for Spring 2021 will be carried over to Fall 2021 or credited to the student account (for graduating seniors and visiting students).

7. When is the deadline for requesting a leave of absence/withdrawal for Spring 2021?

The deadline for requesting leave of absence/withdrawal for Spring 21 is November 30. Leave of absence / withdrawal requests received after this deadline may be assessed a late fee of $200.

8. What will happen to my unused meal plan deposit and partial housing refund from Spring 2020?

Unused meal plan deposit

Any remaining unused meal plan deposit from Spring 2020 will be added to the student card in Spring 2021, except in the following cases:

  • Students who request to take a leave of absence, withdraw, are suspended, live off-campus or study online in Spring 2021 will lose the meal plan deposit from Spring 2020.
  • If AUBG announces an online-only Spring 2021 semester before the start of the semester, the remaining unused meal plan deposit from Spring 20 will be rolled over to Fall 2021. For graduating seniors, AUBG will credit the unused meal deposit to the student account.

Partial housing refund

Students may use the partial housing refund in accordance with the refund policy that was announced in Fall 2020, except in the following cases:

  • Students who request to take a leave of absence, withdraw, are suspended, live off-campus or study online in Spring 2021 will lose the partial housing fee refund from Spring 2020.
  • If AUBG announces an online-only Spring 2021 before the start of the semester, any partial housing fee refund from Spring 2020 will be used to reduce the housing fees payable by the student in the following semesters as follows.

If a student takes a LoA, withdraws, is suspended, lives off-campus, or studies online in Fall 2021 semester, the student will lose the right to a partial housing fee refund.

Graduating seniors in Spring 2021 semester If the student successfully fulfills all graduation requirements after completing the Spring 2021 semester, the student’s partial housing refund and unused meal plan deposit from the Spring 2020 semester will be offset against any unpaid fees the student may owe to AUBG upon graduation. 

If the student’s housing refund and the unused meal plan exceed the amount of unpaid fees, the difference will be paid after graduation to a bank account designated by the students, provided that this difference is larger than $50. If the difference is equal or smaller than $50, it will not be refunded in cash but will be credited to the student’s account and used for academic transcripts and other services the student may request from the university in the future.

If the student is unable to fulfill the graduation requirements upon completing the Spring 2021 semester, the student’s partial housing refund and unused meal plan deposit will be applied to housing fees and added to the meal account of the student card in the Fall 21 semester. No refunds beyond the Fall 21 semester will be provided.

If a student takes a LoA, withdraws, is suspended, lives off-campus or studies online in the Fall 2021 semester, the student will lose the right to a partial housing fee refund and a meal plan deposit rollover.

9. I was on a leave of absence in Fall 2020. Am I still entitled to a partial housing fee refund and meal deposit roll-over from the Spring 20 semester if I am an on-campus student in Spring 21?

The unspent meal deposit from Spring 20 will be rolled over to Spring 21. Please note that AUBG will not allow rolling over of the meal deposit from Spring 20 beyond Spring 21.

The partial housing fee refund from Spring 20 can be used in the same manner as for students who have studied online / lived off campus in Fall 2020. Please refer to www.aubg.edu/faq-on-tuition-and-fees-for-fall-2020.

10. If I pay my tuition and fees for Spring 2021 as on-campus student and AUBG subsequently declares an online-only Spring 2021 semester, will I receive a refund?

Please refer to the Refund Policies for Spring 2021.

11. If I start Spring 2021 as an on-campus student but subsequently I decide to move to live off-campus or to study online, will I receive a refund of my housing fee and student activity fee?

If you choose to live off-campus or study online, you will not be entitled to a refund. Please refer to the Refund Policies for Spring 2021.

12. If I start Spring 2021 as an online student or an off-campus student and subsequently decide to return to campus before the end of the semester, what kind of fees do I have to pay?

Students who are permitted to return to the campus during the Spring 2021 semester will be required to pay the following fees:

Students must pay all fees within 3 (three) working days from the date that they return to the campus as certified by the Residence Life office. Failure to pay these fees may result in financial penalties including, among others, in a deactivation of the student’s access cards.

13. I have been awarded financial aid from the Student Support Fund (SSF). May I keep the grant from the SSF for Spring 2021 if I study online or live off-campus?

Students who study online or live off-campus in Spring 2021 may keep the grant from the Student Support Fund (SSF).

14. If AUBG closes the campus before the end of the Spring 2021 semester, will I receive a refund of my housing fee and student activity fee?

Please refer to the Refund Policies for Spring 2021.

15. If I arrive on campus after the start of the Spring 2021 semester, will I get a full or partial refund of the meal plan deposit for Spring 2021?

The meal plan deposit for Spring 2021 is non-refundable.

16. I am a US citizen and would like to receive Federal Direct Loans. Am I eligible to receive such loans if I have been approved to live off-campus and/or study online?

For questions concerning US Federal Loans, Private and bank loans, please contact AUBG’s Student Loan Office. The Loan Coordinator will inform you whether you are eligible or not for a loan and will calculate the loan amount you may apply.

17. I plan to take a student loan to pay for my housing fee and student activity fee for Spring 2021. May I request that my housing fee and student activity fee are refunded in cash so that I can repay part of the student loan, if AUBG announces and online-only Spring 2021?

AUBG will not offer cash refunds of housing fees and student activity fee, with the exception of graduating seniors and visiting/exchange students.  The amounts paid by students will be rolled over to the following semester(s) in accordance with the Refund Policies for Spring 2021. This will decrease the amount of fees that students have to pay in the following semesters, thus reducing the need for future borrowings.

18. I will be an online-only student in Spring 2021. Can I hold a paid student assistants position in Spring 2021?

Online-only students may hold paid student assistant position in Spring 2021 only if:

  • they perform research or provided e-learn assistance to faculty member(s)
  • work for the Admissions Office 
  • work for the Office of Communications and Marketing
  • work for Advising Center as tutors and advisors

The pay rate and the maximum working hours shall be in compliance with the AUBG Student Assistants Procedure.

Students who are on leave of absence in Spring 2021 cannot hold a student assistants positon.

19. Am I required to pay a housing confirmation deposit to confirm my place in the residence halls in the Fall 2021 semester and when is the payment deadline?

As per the Residence Life Policies and Procedures, which are included in the Student Handbook available on the AUBG web page, a non-refundable deposit of $150 will be added to student accounts during room selection in April for the following 2021-22 school year. The room deposit, payable by students is due by April 15, 2021.
