Information For BA Graduates
The AUBG Commencement Ceremony will take place at the city square, adjacent to the Blagoevgrad Municipality building.
In the event of light rain, the ceremony remains outdoors, and guests and participants are advised to be prepared for such weather.
Should there be severe weather, the ceremony will take place at the Peyo Yavorov Hall, located next to the AUBG main entrance.
If there is any uncertainty as to the ceremony location because of unstable weather, announcements regarding the place of the ceremony will be posted on the Peyo Yavorov Hall and AUBG front doors, in the graduating class Facebook group, and shared via email and the AUBG app on Commencement morning.

Between 7:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. you will be issued your academic regalia. You can then go out to your friends and family, and have pictures taken.
At 9:00 a.m. you will line up for your group class picture at the staircase facing the Alen Mak hotel. In case of rain, the senior group picture will be taken at the AUBG Grand Staircase.
At 9:30 a.m. you should be back to your robing area on the third floor and be lined up in alphabetical order for the academic procession. Please be patient with this process as it will take some time.
As diplomas are arranged in the same alphabetical order, it is of crucial importance that you stay in line after 9:30 a.m. This will ensure that you get your own diploma on stage and not somebody else's.
BA Graduates' Academic Regalia: Gowns, Caps & Tassels
All BA graduates can borrow gowns from the university stock for the commencement ceremony and keep their caps and tassels as a memento of the University. To determine your gown size, please submit this form to the Commencement Team.
BA graduates who want to purchase their own gown can do so for 75 BGN. The purchasing procedure is as follows: you pay 75 BGN in the Business Office during the last two weeks of classes and then take the receipt to the Conferences and Events Office (ABF 6303). Thus they will be informed which gowns will not be returned.
Please be sure that you bring your borrowed gown back no later than one hour after the ceremony is over. Keep in mind that we rely on your responsibility, and hope that all borrowed gowns will be returned.
Information for Parents
Invitations to Parents
Invitations to the parents of all graduating seniors who plan to attend Commencement were sent in mid-March to the addresses provided in the Application for Graduation Form. Please note that the commencement invitational mailing to the parents will consist of an invitation and an explanation insert, which is not a pass for the ceremony.
Important: International guests who need a visa to enter Bulgaria might need a personal letter of invitation to apply for one. Here AUBG international graduates can find more information regarding their guests' visit to Bulgaria.
Accommodation for BA Graduates' Parents
All graduating seniors have the opportunity to reserve a room for their guests in an AUBG Residence Hall by April 21, 2017. Priority is given to seniors whose permanent addresses are further than 150 km from Blagoevgrad. The room fee is 16 levs per person per night in Skaptopara 1 and 2, and 18 levs per person per night in Skaptopara 3. Housing will be available from Friday, May 19, to Sunday, May 21. Check in to Skaptopara will be from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Reservations are done through the Office of Residence Life and Housing. The room fee should be paid in cash to the Business Office prior to guest arrival. Receipts must be given to the Residence Hall Directors at check-in.
Note that if you are not with your family members at the time of their check in, your guests should show their commencement guest tickets to the security at the halls' entrance to be admitted to the building. You may obtain a copy of the Commencement Weekend Housing Policy from the Office of Residence Life and Housing or download it here. If you have any questions regarding this procedure, or if your parents will arrive on campus after 8:00 p.m., please contact Ms. Kristina Stamatova in advance.
Tickets for BA Graduates' Parents
A special reserved seating area has been designated for graduates’ family members, VIP guests, and AUBG University Council members. Reserved seating is provided by guest tickets, coded with different colored dots.

The same guest tickets will provide entrance to the President's Reception on Saturday.
Please NOTE that students bear the full responsibility for not having their guests accommodated if they misplace their tickets. Additional tickets will NOT be issued.
