The American University in Bulgaria, a leading higher education institution in the country, is looking to hire an energetic and interculturally competent Off-Campus Student Life Coordinator. The Off-Campus Student Life Coordinator provides support to enhance the overall university experience of students who live off-campus by offering guidance, resources, and activities which ensure their successful integration and engagement in campus life and by focusing on creating a sense of community and belonging. The Off-Campus Student Life Coordinator also supports off-campus-related student engagement initiatives. This is a full-time position, based in Blagoevgrad.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops a comprehensive database of off-campus resources.
- Provides housing assistance to off-campus students.
- Collects relevant data and conducts analysis of data to support off-campus students and events.
- Reaches out to off-campus students to provide information, guidance, and support related to academic, social, and personal matters.
- Develops and implements initiatives to foster a strong sense of community among off-campus students.
- Responds to emergency situations and crisis events involving off-campus students or such situations happening off-campus.
- Provides support in the development and implementation of student off-campus initiatives. If needed, advises relevant student clubs and organizations.
- Manages the budget allocated for off-campus student-life initiatives and events.
- Collaborates with local community institutions, organizations and businesses to provide long-term holistic support to students and to promote community engagement.
- Collaborates with relevant departments and university officials to improve off-campus student services and support.
- Participates, based on expertise, in Student Affairs-run programs and activities.
REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree required;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in Bulgarian (min. near-to-native level) and in English (min. B1.2).
- Ability to build and foster lasting relationships;
- Ability to work independently and in a team;
- Ability to balance responsibilities and work on tight deadlines;
- Advanced computer literacy.
