Assistant Registrar

The American University in Bulgaria, a leading higher education institution in the country, is looking to hire an Assistant Registrar. As Assistant Registrar, you will be responsible for processing course registrations, maintenance of student records, and serving as the customer service representative for the Registrar’s Office.

This is a full-time position. Based in Blagoevgrad.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate student academic records, including new student records, student enrollment status, course registration, name updates (documenting changes as needed), matriculation and graduation. 
  • Process student enrollment, transcript and degree verification requests. Provide and communicates information from the Registrars’ Office to appropriate individuals and groups as required/ requested.
  • Responsible for final exam schedule building. 
  • Responsible for orientation/advising/registration of the new coming first-year students. 
  • Monitor and update advisors in the database and provide all information needed for advising purposes. 
  • Monitor and process grade changes requests submitted by the faculty in accordance with the grade change policy.

  • Print, distribute and collect signed grade rosters. 
  • Collect and process requests for leave of absence and withdrawal from the University. 
  • Collect and process applications for degrees and other documents related to graduation. 
  • Assist in the degree verification process and commencement preparation. 
  • Assist in preparation of European diploma supplements. 
  • Serve as the customer service representative for the Registrar's Office.
  • Oversees hiring, supervising, and training of all work-study students. Manages office inventory and purchase orders.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the students with VA benefits and their family members seeking assistance with academic, financial and disability counseling.

REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree required
  • Some administrative experience and experience in working with individuals of diverse backgrounds
  • Strong English and Bulgarian both written and verbal
  • Communication skills both written and verbal
  •  Ability to create, compose and edit written materials
  • Ability to build and foster lasting relationships
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to balance responsibilities and work on tight deadlines
  • Advanced computer skills preferred
