Year One Results
The goal for the first year of the initiative was to raise $300,000. Instead, the alumni community almost doubled that amount with donations and pledges anywhere between $10 to $100,000.
The America for Bulgaria Foundation generously offered to match all alumni cash donations made between Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 2020. As of June 30, they have contributed $215,303, equal to the total amount donated by alumni for that period.

Most donations traditionally go towards scholarships. This year alumni were also quick to respond to the financial crisis caused by the pandemic and joined the university efforts to help students in need through the Student Support Fund.
The Alumni Pledge managed to involve 6% of the alumni community (the goal set for year one), even exceeding the target by a few participants.
Alumni from all classes took part, some more than others. Even those who decided to complete their degree elsewhere, still show support for their alma mater.

In Bulgaria, there is a need for widespread support of higher education. There are so many different ways to give back to the university and I believe one of the easiest is by financial donation. The additional funds would empower AUBG to attract talented young people and support students in need so they would have the opportunity to gain world-class education locally and fulfill their potential in their homeland.

Managing Partner at Skill Force
I was delighted to learn that my efforts had been rewarded with the Skill Force Scholarship. Naturally, this award will be of great help financially, but even more so, it has inspired and motivated me to continue being relentlessly dedicated to my studies. I hope one day I will be able to give back to the AUBG community and inspire future generations, too!
Skill Force Scholarship Recipient
I chose to contribute to AUBG because it unites people and promotes critical thinking. I believe that today’s world is in need of more unity and more critical thinking, so AUBG is a worthy cause.
