May 14, 2013 10-year anniversary of the AUBG Executive MBA and Elieff Center for Education and Culture Joel Morse, CEO and co-founder of C3i Inc., Alexander Durchev (EMBA class ’10), manager of All Channels Communication Group, and the AUBG President Dr. Michael Easton will give welcoming speeches at the event. The reception celebrating the 10th anniversary of the AUBG Executive MBA program and the establishment of the Elieff Center for Education and Culture will take place tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Elieff Center (1 Universitetski Park Str., Studentski Grad, Sofia). May 9, 2013 The world-renowned scientist Carl Djerassi welcomes the graduating class of the American University in Bulgaria The Austrian-Bulgarian inventor Carl Djerassi will wish good luck to 201 Bachelors of the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) on Sunday. He will be bestowed the honorable title of “Doctor honoris causa” of AUBG at the commencement ceremony of the 19th graduating class. May 8, 2013 Carl Djerassi’s “Insufficiency” play will be staged for the first time in Bulgaria by AUBG students and graduates Students and graduates of the American University in Bulgaria put on stage for the first time in Bulgaria the “Insufficiency” play written by the “father” of the contraceptive pill and world-renowned scientist Carl Djerassi. The performance in Bulgarian will take place on May 9, 2013 (Thursday) at 6 p.m. in the Theater Hall of the Student Center “America for Bulgaria” with free admission. April 24, 2013 Mobile phone application wins first prize at a start-up competition at the American University in Bulgaria An application for mobile phones that allows people to find others with like-minded interests and hobbies won first place at a business project competition at the American University in Bulgaria. The application features off-beat map visualization and easy event localization that facilitate people-to-people interaction and finding events of common interest. The jury, which included the business manager for Citibank Bulgaria Stephan Feldstein, LAUNCHub fund scout Georgi Kadrev, the AUBG President Michael Easton and representatives of Junior Achievement, picked the winner out of six participating teams. read the full story >>
April 11, 2013 The coach of the Bulgarian national wrestling team Armen Nazaryan will attend the sports Olympiad at AUBG A star cast of the Bulgarian sports field will attend the Olympiad organized by students of the American University in Bulgaria. Armen Nazaryan, a double Olympic and triple world wrestling champion, will be a special guest and will take part in awarding the winners. The national wrestling team and their mentor were named best team and number one coach of March a few days ago. Stoyan Saladinov, an equally worthy guest, was national champion of freestyle wrestling, ten times champion and one time vice-champion of sambo, holder of a world cup, champion of judo and karate. read the full story >>
April 10, 2013 Famous People Share their Ideas with Students from the American University in Bulgaria Vasil Touchkov, creator of the first “live” museum who made his debut with fantasy trilogy at the age of 18, and current creative director of a company for clothes in the UK, will be one of the lecturers at the TEDxAUBG conference. It will welcome a total of 11 lecturers, who will present their innovative and bold ideas to students from the American University in Bulgaria in 18 minutes. The TEDxAUBG conference is part of the international organization TED, and is organized for the second time at the university. April 5, 2013 The winner of the Presidential Medal of the American University in Bulgaria will be chosen at a ceremony on Sunday Outstanding students from the American University in Bulgaria will be honored at a ceremony to be held on April 7, 2013 at 17:00 pm at the Student Center "America for Bulgaria", campus "Skaptopara" AUBG. The culmination of the ceremony will come with the announcement of the winner of the Presidential Medal – a student from the graduating class who most fully expresses the ideas of the American University in Bulgaria. The winner of the Presidential Medal of AUBG must not only have outstanding academic record, but must also embody the ideals of education in an American-style liberal arts university - successfully combing learning with extracurricular activities, which contribute to the community development. read the full story>>
April 4, 2013 “Memphis” cast premieres their musical in front of a full hall Students from the American University in Bulgaria illuminated the stage in Blagoevgrad and amazed the audience with their performance yesterday. They impressed the spectators with artistic skills and brilliant singing. April 2, 2013 Companies Seek Talents at the American University in Bulgaria Leading companies are coming to the American University in Bulgaria to offer job and internship opportunities to students from the university. This year’s 20th anniversary edition of the Job Fair will introduce students to representatives from more than 30 international companies. Among the organizations are Coca-Cola, Nestle, Craft Foods, Deloitte, UniCredit Bulbank, Telerik and M-Tel. Most of the representatives from the companies are also AUBG graduates. April 1, 2013 The “Memphis” musical, staged for the first time in Bulgaria by students from the American University in Bulgaria The “Memphis” musical, winner of two “Tony” awards, will have its premiere in Bulgaria. The “Best Musical for 2010” will rock six Bulgarian cities thanks to “The Broadway Club” at AUBG. The students from the university are the first amateur group in the world to acquire the license rights to stage the “Memphis” musical. read the full story>>
March 20, 2013 The American University in Bulgaria hosts an Open House Day for EMBA Students The American University in Bulgaria is organizing an Open House Day for all prospective candidates to its EMBA program in Sofia, on March 23, 2013. They would be able to attend lectures on strategic management and company mergers, taught by Prof. Richard Mishak, a longtime professor and consultant in the area of acquisitions and company mergers, as well as the lectures on Business Communication with Prof. Vladimir Borachev who recently took over the position of Deputy Dean of Institutional Development at AUBG. March 15, 2013 Google present job opportunities to students from the American University in Bulgaria Google will present offers for professional development to students at AUBG. At the event, students will get useful information about available jobs, necessary requirements and qualifications, as well as the meaning of being part of a multinational company. The presentation will take place on March 18, at 5:45 p.m. at the Balkanski Academic Center in the “Skaptopara” university campus. February 26, 2013 The new VP for "Institutional Advancement" at AUBG is Vladimir Borachev Vladimir Borachev, who is a member of the first graduate class of 1995 at AUBG, is the new VP for "Institutional Advancement" at the American University in Bulgaria. February 14, 2013 Foreign Minister Mladenov attends a conference at AUBG Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, will participate in a 4-day long conference at the American University in Bulgaria. The conference, which imitates the style and work of the UN, will consist of 80 students, 30 of whom come from different universities in Greece, Germany, Russia, Macedonia and Kosovo. The conference opening night is today, February 14, at 5:00 p.m. at the “Andrey Delchev” Auditorium in Balkanski Academic Center. January 21, 2013 The film director Ilian Metev shows a Cannes awarded fllm in front of AUBG students The young and talented Ilian Metev, whose film “Sofia’s Last Ambulance” grabbed the Visionary Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, will visit the American University in Bulgaria. Along with Metev will come Tom Kirk, the film’s sound оperator. Both of them will share interesting facts concerning the production of the documentary film, which after being in Cannes received a series of success, including a big award at the Bratislava festival, a Silver Dove at the festival in Leipzig, an award in Karlovy Vary and others. Ilian Metev and Tom Kirk have been invited to the university on behalf of AUBG’s Documentary Club. After a discussion, students will be able to watch the 80-minute film. read the full story>>
