Education at the American University in Bulgaria will be free for applicants with a combined verbal and math SAT score of 1300 or higher. Full scholarships will cover a 100 percent of tuition for four years and will be available to students entering AUBG in Fall 2010. Students who receive high SAT scores but do not meet the 1300 mark will be able to compete for partial scholarships ranging from 10 to 90 percent of tuition.
“AUBG is committed to being the best place for excellent students,” AUBG President David Huwiler said of the new scholarship opportunity. “We are pleased to have this important support from donors who share our commitment.”
AUBG is a four-year liberal arts college offering first-rate American-style education and awarding an internationally recognized bachelor’s degree. The University’s reputation for academic excellence attracts individuals of outstanding potential. Current students come from more than 35 countries and represent the top tier of their high school graduating class. At AUBG students work with faculty members from the United States, Europe, and around the world, who previously taught or have degrees from prestigious universities, such as Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, and Brown.
AUBG helps students pay for their education in several ways. Financial aid is based on both academic merit and financial need and will cover from 10 percent to almost 90 percent of tuition. Around 60 percent of enrolled students at AUBG receive financial aid, while there is a special, first year only award for new students. Many scholarship opportunities, for up to the full cost of education, are available for incoming and current students. The University will award a total of $4 million in scholarships and financial aid in the next academic year.
On-campus jobs are a great way to help pay for education and gain practical experience. During summer work and travel programs students find that they can earn the full cost of tuition while getting valuable international experience. AUBG partners with several banks which offer attractive loan terms to AUBG students.
In addition to its commitment to make it possible for every qualified student to attend AUBG, the University now offers applicants the opportunity to take the SAT for free.
