About the Program
Raiffeisenbank, DSK Bank , Allianz Bank Bulgaria, Postbank, First Investment Bank and Bulgarian American Credit Bank provide government-guaranteed loans with an interest rate of 7% per year for Bulgarian and EU degree-seeking students up to the full amount of tuition for a maximum of eight semesters of AUBG attendance.
* Important: Raiffeisenbank, DSK Bank, and Postbank are currently offering government-guaranteed loans with interest rate of 6.50 %.
According to the Student Loan Act, loan applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age when applying for the government-guaranteed loan.
Applicants for government-guaranteed loans must contact the Student Loan Office to get a Loan Certificate which needs to be presented to the bank.
Loan Application Procedure
If you would like to apply for this loan, you should go through the following steps:
- contact Student Loan Office (ABF, Room 6218) and fill in the loan certificate (if the student has declared two majors, he/she can apply for a loan for one of the majors and must choose which one to indicate in the loan certificate)
- pick up the loan certificate, signed by AUBG
- visit the bank office (Raiffeisenbank, DSK Bank, Allianz Bank Bulgaria, Postbank, First Investment Bank, or Bulgarian American Credit Bank)
Students must present loan certificates to the bank every semester, even if they are not going to need the loan tranche for a particular semester.
Students in their ninth or later semester, or students who have prolonged their class standing for more than two semesters, are not eligible for government-guaranteed loans.
First semester students must pay their student bill by Aug. 10 for Fall semester and by Jan. 10 for Spring semester and they will be able to obtain a loan certificate after the semester has started.
Newly accepted students (as well as transfer students) interested in these loans must contact the school's student loan team once they are enrolled in AUBG and the academic year has started!
According to Article 3, subparagraph 1, point 4 of the Student Loan Act, all student loan applicants who have interrupted their studies (dismissal, withdrawal, suspension, LOA) are not eligible to receive a government-guaranteed student loan. Exception is made in cases of maternity leave, illness (lasting no more than two years) or pursuing studies in another university or research organization. The borrower shall provide documentation to the bank detailing the circumstances.
Please also keep in mind that if you fail to present a loan certificate (уверение) for two consecutive semesters to the bank, the full amount of the student loan becomes immediately due.
