Assistant/Associate Professor in Computer Science
The American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) invites applications for a
full-time position of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science. The position is for a three-year renewable contract, available from the Fall semester, 2019.
The successful candidate is expected to have an excellent research record, as well as substantial and outstanding experience in teaching a wide variety of Computer Science and Information Systems courses in an institution following the liberal arts model of education.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record in teaching a variety of fundamental courses, especially covering the areas of computer architecture, assembly language, system administration, security, UNIX operating systems. A proven publication record by the candidate in advanced research topics in these fields will be considered as an important plus.
The teaching load is 6 sections per year. A strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in the liberal art style is required. Substantial teaching experience is desired. An earned doctorate in Computer Science is essential.
Relevant industrial experience will be considered as significant plus.

Adjunct Instructor of Accounting
The Department of Business at the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) is searching for an adjunct instructor of accounting. This is a part-time adjunct position for fall 2019 semester (September-December 2019), teaching one or two courses. Class schedule is flexible.
Level of appointment is open.
The successful candidate will be teaching our introductory course on accounting (financial accounting and/or managerial accounting) to students majoring in Business Administration.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
a) A master’s or higher in accounting;
b) A willingness to learn how to teach courses in accounting to business students;
c) A willingness to adapt to the American liberal arts style of teaching;
d) A passion for accounting;
e) A collegial disposition.
This position is pending funding approval.

Professor in Journalism and Mass Communication
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the American University in Bulgaria has a regular, full-time, three-year renewable position (video, photo, mobile, and documentary journalism) starting Fall 2019. AUBG is a small residential liberal arts university, operating in English, located in Blagoevgrad.
Position Responsibilities: Teaching load of 6 courses per academic year (9 months) with specialty in visual communication theory, video, photo, mobile, and documentary storytelling; producing research and/or equivalent creative activity; advising students; and serving the department, university, and wider community.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
(a) PhD degree in journalism, mass communication, or related field;
(b) Professional rank of associate or full professor;
(c) Record of published and/or juried creative activity or scholarly research;
(d) Experience teaching relevant undergraduate courses in an American liberal arts-style education;
(e) Ability to contribute to other courses in the department and propose topics courses in journalism and media.
(f) Experience in advising students and other academic service;
(g) A collegial disposition.
